[Post-Drama Interview] Jo Woo Ri reveals the stress she received from having to play Hyun Soo Ah in 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty'

Jo Woo Ri isn't a rookie actor, it has already been seven years since her debut. She's appeared in many other dramas and in recent years, she appeared in 'Witch at Court' and 'Queen of Mystery Season 2'. For the first time since her debut, Jo Woo Ri received the opportunity to play her first lead role.

Hyun Soo Ah is a character who's a natural beauty and in middle school, she's bullied by others. After Hyun Soo Ah realizes the truth of life that: 'If a pretty kid knows that they're pretty then regular people get annoyed', she works hard towards her prettiness and uses her prettiness as power. Because Hyun Soo Ah is a character that's prettier than others and hasn't gotten any work done, Jo Woo Ri said that she was greatly burdened by the role of Hyun Soo Ah - who's chasing perfection. Jo Woo Ri said, "Unlike Hyun Soo Ah, I don't have a fancy face but I tried to be pretty through styling and clothes, I tried to dress in a 'shalala' vibe."

In the past, Jo Woo Ri was able to avoid criticism about looks but after playing this role, she said that she realized it's a celebrity's fate to be judged on their looks. "In the past, I wasn't able to relate to it [being judged for your looks by others]. While working on other dramas, I was able to work on it comfortably, like myself, without burden but with this drama, it's a very popular work and it's a character who's prettiness has to be acknowledged, so there was judgement about external factors." The actress added, "It was my first time being judged for my looks so it was hard. I wondered how I would be able to recover from this. There are limits to my face and I later became sad after receiving these judgements. So that's why I stopped looking at comments so that I can protect my self-esteem. I just thought, "Let's work hard at my job, look at the script more, let's practice more hard at acting". I thought, will people even know if my heart hurts after looking at the comments. So that's why I just thought, let's work hard."

1. [+1153, -10] Because she's so good at acting spiteful I didn't like her while watching the drama but you worked hard, Soo Ah-ssi!! I hope we can meet again in a good work ㅎㅎㅎ

2. [+901, -24] She looks exactly the same as when she was young ㅋㅋ These days, there's a lot of fancy facial features through the generalized surgeries and procedures so I think she matched Soo Ah well. If you go to an actual campus, girls who have a pretty style like her are innocent so they have a lot of popularity ㅎㅎ I was surprised because she had different vibes from when she was playing a nice character who's getting ready to take their police academy exam in 'Queen of Mystery 2' ㅎ I hope she ends up well in the future as well~

3. [+414, -15] Because she's a face that hasn't received surgery, her face comes out really naturally on the screen so that might be why she received negative comments. Her face looks exactly the same as when she was younger ㅠㅠ She's fucking pretty. I'm saying this just in case you don't know but don't get any surgery/procedures done on your face, you're beautiful as you are right now. (t/n: This is a picture from when she was younger, she really looks exactly the same LOL - )

4. [+342, -11] Because she's so good at acting, while watching I was really annoyed ㅋㅋㅋ I hope they do a second season, always hwaiting!!

5. [+201, -7] She also came out in 'Descendants of the Sun'.....

6. [+87, -2] It's a drama that criticized lookism but in the comments, people would say that Cha Eun Woo is prettier than Im Soo Hyang and Jo Woo Ri.. I feel like our country will never be able to get rid of this

Aww...
I feel bad for her ㅠㅠ
Her acting wasn't bad in the drama but I feel like some viewers just had really high expectations for a fictional character, you can't really expect someone to look like a goddess LOL
I hope they make a second season~
