[Video Report Translation] Identity of admin behind the 'Doctor's Room' in the Telegram Nth Room case revealed

A case where videos of sexually exploited women, including minors, was sold and spread through the messenger app Telegram is continuing to receive growing attention and anger from the nation. Up until an hour ago, a Blue House petition that's asking for the identity of the perpetrator to be revealed received 2,354,492 signatures. SBS has made the judgement that this case is an atrocious crime against youths and a serious crime that will leave irrevocable scars. 

 So in order to prevent further damage, to assist with the investigation of finding other crimes that haven't been uncovered yet, and for the people's right to know - we have decided to reveal our exclusive coverage and the face and personal details of the suspect in custody. 

 This is the 25 year old Cho Joo Bin, who created and operated the group chat room 'Doctor's Room' on the Telegram app. So then, we'll now go into who this Cho Joo Bin is - this person that committed this appalling crime. 

 As of now, there's 74 confirmed female victims and there's 16 minors. Cho Joo Bin, the 25 year old who atrociously sexually exploited the victims, graduated from college in 2018. We went to the college that Cho Joo Bin graduated from and asked how his student life was. Cho majored in Information and Communication Technology but he ranked first at the school's book report contest and was also active as the editor-in-chief for his school paper. 

He wrote various articles for the paper's column and would write about the emotions he experienced during his school life. His grades were good to the point where for three out of the four semesters, his average GPA was over a 4.0 and he received various scholarships. 

 If you look at his grades and school activities, he deserves to be judged as a excellent student but his classmates say that he did not have good relationships with friends (t/n: didn't have good people skills).

He first posted a fake ad on Telegram saying he's selling firearms and drugs to commit fraud and steal money. Last September, Cho Joo Bin created the 'Doctor's Room' and began the crime of sexual exploitation. 

 As '갓갓', the admin of the Nth Room which is the chat room that's the origin of the sex exploitation chat room, began to wither away (be less active) - Cho Joo Bin began to use even more provocative sexual exploitation videos to earn money.

Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon sentenced to six and five years for their crimes

He then sexually assaulted her, causing horrific internal injuries. About 30 minutes later, he left the unconscious victim at the scene and went home.

Danwon police arrested Cho two days later after their investigation found his fingerprints in the toilet and bloodstains on his clothes and shoes. Despite prosecutors' demand for life imprisonment, the final court ruling dismissed the unrepentant Cho's appeal and sentenced him to 12 years in prison. The sentence's leniency enraged the public.

Authorities have withheld the victim's name to protect her and her parents. In January 2010, the girl had successful surgery to repair her colon and reproductive system, according to the nation's online encyclopedia. But her mental trauma has reportedly worsened. Grandsons of SK Group and Hyundai Group booked on drug charges

Several grandkids of big conglomerate families including the owners of SK and Hyundai are being investigated on charges of buying illegal drugs.

Police in Incheon said Monday they arrested a grandson of SK Group founder Chey Jong-gun on drugs charges and a grandson of Hyundai Group founder Chung Ju-yung will be questioned on the same charges once he returns from abroad.

Chey junior was arrested in his office in Seongnam south of Seoul on Monday and has been charged with buying liquid cannabis. He studied in the U.S. and works for an SK Group affiliate.

Police arrested the dealer last month, and he told them he supplied both men with cannabis, of which Korean law enforcement takes a dimmer view than many advanced countries'.

Actor Son Seung Won being investigated for driving under the influence with a revoked driver's license

[Article Translation][Incheon Middle School Bullying Case Follow-Up] The mother of the victim speaks up about one of the assailants wearing her late son's clothes

The child who dreamed of becoming a professional gamer began talking less this year. He asked, "Mom, why are you a foreigner?". He also often lost his clothes and cellphone. 

Mother of victim: When I say, "Then go and bring it back" after my son said, "I forgot my clothes at my friend's house" then he wouldn't go and get it. 

Student A who is one of the 4 assailants is the son's elementary school classmate who would often come over to play at the victim's house. She felt reassured because a big build kid (student A) was friends with her small son but recently, there was a lot of weird situations. 

Mother of victim: (When student A came over to the house) I would order pizza and chicken. But it turns out that my son didn't eat a single bite of it. 

And then on the 13th at dawn, the victim was assaulted by the four assailants at a park. During the afternoon on that day, he was assaulted for over an hour on an apartment's roof and it's been reported that he eventually fell from the roof and died. 

On the day of the accident, the mother found it weird that her son was wearing short-sleeved clothes. 

Mother of victim: I was watching the news at the funeral, I thought, "Oh, it's my son's clothes" and thought that it (the clothes) must've been taken from him. 

The mother cried and her heart came down crumbling. 

Although she became aware that her son was being bullied, she said her sense of guilt is big because she couldn't protect him and it's because she had to always work to raise her son in a foreign country. 

Mother of victim: Because I work, I kept calling because I was worried about my son. I should've held his hand but I'm sorry because I couldn't protect him. 

After reports about this came out, many people online have been urging for the assailants to be strongly punished.

Middle school student falls to his death after being attacked by a group of his peers

The story is still developing but articles are all saying that on the 13th, student A (14) and three other students attacked student B as a group at the rooftop of a 15th floor apartment in Incheon. Identity of suspect in Gangseo PC room murder case revealed, people continue to express their outrage with the case

NOTE: News related to this murder case has been trending everyday on Naver. I noticed no other sites were translating it so I thought it would be nice to translate it since it's a major headline in Korea. I apologize for the translations being graphic.  

 The identity of the suspect was finally released yesterday. The suspect is a 29-year-old named Kim Sung Soo. He's accused of stabbing a 21-year-old PC bang (PC room, internet cafe) part-time worker to death. According to authorities, the suspect asked the part-time worker to clean up his table because the customer before him left dirty dishes. The worker cleaned it up but the suspect said the worker was rude to him. 

If you watch the security videos, it shows that the police visited the store because the suspect's brother called the police saying his brother and the part-time worker are arguing after they asked him to clean up their table. The victim also called the police saying, "This is the PC bang, there's a customer here who keeps cussing. I would you like you to come here and do something." But the cops came because the suspect's brother called and the victim told the operator, the police came and hung up the phone. But the cops who came to the scene deemed that it wasn't a serious issue and left the scene after 15 minutes. After that, the suspect went to his home (which was apparently 300m away) and came back with a knife. One witness called the police and reported, "A fight just occurred, please come quickly." Another witness reported the incident and said, "The suspect is continuing to stab right now, please hurry and come." The security camera video shows the suspect stabbing the victim after the victim comes back down after throwing trash away. The suspect stabs while the suspect's brother holds onto the victim. The suspect continues to say his brother isn't an accomplice. The victim died due to his injuries from the stabbing. 

As of today, 982,778 people have signed the online petition on the official Korean government website to toughen punishment for suspects in high-profile murder cases. People are outraged because they can tell that the suspect is going for the route where they claim that he's mentally ill and that he might not receive a tough punishment.
